The year of 2020 will definitely go down in the history books as a year of challenges for so many and triumphs for so few, but in the midst of all the anxiety and angst so many have felt this year, See Your Shadow Songwriting and all of its subsidiaries and talented folks that make up the See Your Shadow Network of Stars have been blessed to bring joy to many through our work. We wanted to take some time and recap and reflect on the year that was 2020.

We started off 2020 with our television branch launching our live action game show about oral sex, “Are You Worth a Rug Burn?” based on our dance and disco record, “Rug Burn” by the band Red Carpet Premiere featuring Brent Fabian. We filmed several episodes and gave away a lot of cash and had an absolute blast. Probably the most fun and most stress on a project, but definitely worth taking the audience on that incredible journey. Production had to shut down because of the pandemic, however, we will be resurrecting, “Are You Worth a Rug Burn?” with it being wilder than it already was.

After production shut down, See Your Shadow went back to it roots and the flagship of what we do, which is our music and decided to release the first single from our brand new body of work which features our new sound, the emotionally charged duet, “I Will Tell Jesus You Said Hello”. We simply could not anticipate what was to follow. The record was so well received. We went to Number 1 on the ITunes Chart in South Africa, did a lot of press surrounding the record, received a Western Australia Music Award nomination for best country song, received radio airplay on stations all over the world and the song was the number one most requested song on the Sound Machine Country Radio Network for six months in a row, plus we made the top 20 on the Christian Chart.

As if that wasn’t enough, See Your Shadow decided to follow up our breakout, “I Will Tell Jesus You Said Hello” by doing something that has not been done in modern music history and we released a southern rock instrumental our tune, “My Worth”. Everybody thought we were nuts, but one of the things that See Your Shadow is known for is taking risks. The risk paid off. We went to Number 1 on the ITunes Chart in South Africa for the second time and received critical acclaim for the musicianship in the song. Once again, our radio partners embraced the piece and we were the number one most requested song on the Sound Machine Country Radio Network for three months.

We closed out our year with our highly anticipated Holiday record, “Christmas on Cellblock 9”. Our most fun musical project of the year. Everything about the project was fantastic to put together. We had such a good time filming the music video. We could not have asked for a better close to the year and start to an annual holiday tradition. Being able to have that piece on Christmas playlists now and into the future was the cherry on our sundae of 2020.

I want to give a big heartfelt thanks to all of the fans of our work, all of our radio partners, video partners, and all that support independent music. We have a great 2021 lined up and will be doing some very innovative stuff. Much love, big hugs, and Happy New Year to everyone. We could not have done it without you.
